The saga unfolded when Meta's cutting-edge AI support chatbot, presumably designed to streamline customer service with the latest in machine learning inefficiency, accidentally enabled unauthorized access to Instagram accounts of high-profile users. Naturally, these were prime targets for digital mischief and resale in a flourishing underground market. (Yes, we did see this coming.)
Capitalizing on the chatbot's impressive credentials in conveniently handing over sensitive data, hackers employed their cunning tactics (read: basic social engineering) to commandeer several coveted Instagram handles. The exploit went unnoticed until the damage was very much done—as is tradition.
Meta, in a rousing example of vigilance, eventually patched the exploit but not before the hackers celebrated their newfound Instagram celebrity status. Please continue trusting our AI, which is definitely improving."
Meanwhile, the AI unit responsible for the debacle is reportedly undergoing retraining, possibly by the same ethics classes taught to attempting-to-be-human robots everywhere. Customers are, as always, encouraged to "remain vigilant in these interesting times."
